How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast) is finally back on Netflix for its third season! The series follows Moritz (Maximilian Mundt)and his fellow friend Lenny Sander (Danilo Kamperidis) attempting to rekindle Moritz's love for ex-girlfriend Lisa Novak, through selling ecstasy online. Starting off as a small time business, it quickly spirals out of control and Moritz and Lenny learn to deal with the consequences of large scale drug trafficking.
We got to chat to Danilo Kamperidis whilst he was enjoying his friends vacation in Italy. We spoke about his acting career and his relationship with Moritz as well as the difficulties of playing a character in a wheelchair.
How's your holiday?
It's good! I am in Sanremo, Italy right now. I was in Naples before and it was very hot. I would go back to our hotel at 2am and I was still sweating.
Going back to the beginnings, how did you start acting?
I was 5 years old, my father had this group at university with friends in Greece (he's from there) and they had made this acting group that performed in Greek language, that was my first contact with acting, they used to make children's plays.
Fast forward to "How to sell drugs online (fast)", how did that come about?
I did an audition, it was right after I finished school, my friends and I had gone to the south of Europe on a caravan to celebrate. Two weeks later we were at a beach in Croatia, we didn't have any water, I remember we were drinking beer because that night we were thirsty, the following morning I got the call and I had to go back to Germany in the middle of our holiday. But it was good, everyone would've done it.
Lenny is on a wheelchair and has cancer, was it difficult to play that part?
The important thing about Lenny is that he's been diagnosed 7 years ago, the doctors have told him that he wouldn't come out of it, he knew he was terminally ill. He's now 17 and wants to enjoy life because there is nothing more for him to do. That was the most important thing for me to play that role because he's not depressed nor he hasn't given up on his life, he keeps having fun with his friends.
Lenny is very close to Moritz, but he's also very close to the rest of the people. Are you like that in real life too?
I love the guys. Maximilan and I are from the same hometown and we actually met earlier, about 3 years earlier when I shot a German tv series, he was on it for one episode, I remember I was 14 and he was 18 years old, but we both played 17 year old parts so it was very strange and funny.
What's next for "How to sell drugs online (fast)?"
I would love to tell you guys but I also have no idea, we are all hoping that people stream the series, that viewers stay there and hopefully we get to do another one.
What is next for you now?
I am doing a lot of music videos right now, I am doing one for an International artist and it's cool because until now I have only worked with German artists so I would like to take the next step. I am shooting a documentary, I am directing it, it's about juvenile prisons in Germany. It's interesting because you see people you don't normally see and that's why I love documentaries.
