Baydream: The Euphoric Feel of ‘Cosmos’

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

Having already introduced the world to tracks such as The Flame and Peasants, after much anticipation Baydream released their debut EP Cosmos on 29th September 2023, consisting of 4 incredible tracks fresh out of the studio.

It is always a good day to celebrate when an artist releases new music to the world, and in the case of Cosmos it helps to get more of a flavour about who Baydream are with their strength not just being exceptional abstract lyricism but the ability to infuse it with such wonderful colour and beauty.

So with that in mind, let’s take a closer look. The EP starts with opening track Leaving, and it is that serene but feel good rhythm that just pulls you in, before leading us to placing our full attention on the vocals of Baydream. It is such easy listening and successfully manages to ignite a spark of euphoria from within the listener - a very good way to wet the appetite from the very start of a persons Cosmos experience.

From Leaving we then move onto Shatter Matter which again follows in similar vain to the previous song. Once you have had a chance to take it all, Shatter Matter is the prime opportunity to really pay attention to Baydream’s songwriting which comes from a place of creativity but still manages to keep the listener engaged.

My favourite on the EP would have to be Enigma because we see Baydream starting to switch up the tempo, and I love that his approach to this song is to make it a little more on the conversational side.

As for the final track, Fooled, I will leave it up to you to go and discover for yourself, but what I will say its the perfect track for bringing the EP to the close in a strong position.

Even though all 4 tracks are all under 3 minutes each, there is such richness and texture that flows throughout Cosmos, and in terms of production with various components such as the synth it elevates the experience adding to the ambience even more.

It is hard to compare Baydream to anyone else out there, because i think Cosmos sets them apart from their peers. I get the instinct that Baydream prides themselves on paying attention to every single detail of each song, and I think that really shares when the more and more you listen.

EP’s like Cosmos illustrate an artist who is on the cusp of unlocking their full potential, and i believe that this will only serve to be a spring board to great things for Baydream and their music.

Cosmos is available now on all major platforms, so get listening today.
