It’s a warm sunny day in 2023, just minding my business like any other day, go to reach for my phone and turn on some tunes while browse casually through my instagram feed. Then all of a sudden I stop and can’t believe my eyes. My friend is talking to me, but at that moment my attention is on other things.
You're probably thinking (as my friend did) ‘what’s up?...are you ok bro?’....my answer ‘Absolutely fine, never better!’ with a huge grin on my face. Why? After 11 years on hiatus the iconic band, Boys Like Girls are back!!! No let me rephrase, they are not just back, they bring gifts in the shape of brand new music!
Like many music fans, I often asked myself for a band which was responsible for epic songs such as On Top Of The World, Dance Hall Drug, Real Thing and Red Cup Hands Up Long Brown Hair, would I ever live to enjoy anymore fresh BLG music. And well it seems all that patience and never losing hope paid off as on the 28th July 2023 our favourite US band returned with their recent single THE OUTSIDE.
I have no shame in admitting, since the release of THE OUTSIDE I have listened to this track countless times pretty much every single day because everything about it just radiates such joy. It’s uplifting, its full of positive energy to put anyone in a happy mood, and just takes me back to all those great moments in my younger years where I could always count on Boys Like Girls as a source of encouragement and motivation.
I would go as far to say that this song this latest single has all the qualities of a good anthem because you cannot help but sing along to lines such as “It’s ok, it’s alright, baby welcome to life on the outside’ plus of course not forgetting all those important ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’ that follow.
Obviously 11 years since Boys Like Girls released anything so how does The OUTSIDE compare, and I think based on everything this song offers, it illustrates that the band continue to be as passionate about the music like they were right at the start all the years ago. I for one am glad they are back on our radars, and best of all they are clearer and stronger than ever.
Word on the street is that the band are currently touring across the US and Canada sure I sure do hope it’s not too long till we can expect to see them take a trip over to the UK, because I am sure there are countless fans dying to party again to Boys Like Girls once more as we celebrate and sing songs like The OUTSIDE at the top of our lungs.
