BRITS Awards 2023 - A Celebration Not To Be Missed

Darkus

As a music fan, stepping into 2023, I am sure many of you will agree that this past 12 months we have been spoilt for choice when it comes to being able to enjoy a vast amount of incredible music from some of our favourite artists not just from the UK but beyond as well.

While we all love going to gigs, checking out fresh and exciting albums or even enjoying a festival or two, there will forever be one day in the calander artists and fans alike look forward to every single year - the BRIT Awards. For the first time ever, the annual award ceremony will take place on a Saturday as guests flock to the O2 Arena in London on the 11th February 2023 to show their love, respect, admiration and support for some of the most sensational and hottest rising names within the current music scene.

As solo artists and bands constantly are giving us music fans such a wealth of music which means so much to us, be it that song that puts the spring in our step, or the album which helps us get over some of the most challenging moments of our lives, or even that artist that as soon as you hear them sing it feels like that they are speaking to your mind plus so much more. The BRIT awards encompasses all of those feelings, and personal connections which make the power of music so special and is a symbol of gratitude to those important names who we have been listening to non stop for the past number of months.

Returning as the host for the second year in a row, British stand-up comedian Mo Gilligan explained:

Hosting the BRITs last year was one of the most phenomenal moments of my life. I’ve been so honoured to get to know the incredible team behind the biggest night in music and so proud to bring our amazing audiences even closer to their favourite artists. I promise you, we’re going to go even bigger this year… Let's go!”

With there being only a number of days to go before the big night, the question we are all asking is what can we expect from this year’s festivities.

Which lucky nominee wins each category is a tough one to call because as you can see from all the categories there is a vast array of nominees all amazing in their own way.

However with DARKUS attending this year’s BRIT Awards, there are a few names from some of the categories we are very excited to see on the list, especially as a magazine we love exploring such a diverse range of genres.

Some of our favourite moments over the past months as a team have been able to have the honour of seeing the likes of The 1975, Stormzy, Fontaines D.C, Lewis Capaldi, Wet Leg and Dua Lipa perform live.

If you were to ask us about our favourite albums or songs which we enjoy listening to our hearts content then Lizzo’s About Damn Time, Taylor Swift’s Anti Hero or Harry Style’s Harry’s House will tick the box each and every time.

As we love supporting emerging talent, one category we are looking forward to the most though is Best New Artist, as looking at previous years when names such as Holly Humberstone and Sam Fender were on the list, each and every name who has been selected as a nominee has gone on to achieve such phenomenal things.

So whether you love the catchy vibe of someone like Mimi Webb or the charm and energy of Sam Ryder, then the Best New Artist is certainly a category to keep very close eye on.

Of course the BRIT Awards are not just about awards, guests will also be able to hear some fantastic live music, with it being rumoured that Stormzy, Harry Styles and Lewis Capaldi are just some of the artists ready to make the night that even more special.

With host Mo Gilligan adding his own energy as our host for this year, it is safe to say that whether your there in person or watching it broadcast live exclusively on ITV1 & ITVX, the BRIT Awards 2023 is one occasion this month you certainly don’t want to miss.
