City Grey - I Don't Want You To Leave

Hailing from Fayetteville in Arkansas, post-emo band City Grey return with their brand new single I Don’t Want You To Leave which was released on 1st September 2023. If you haven’t had the chance to hear it already then let me tell you just some of the reasons why you need to give this song a listen.

Firstly you will find how easy it is to connect to this song especially if you are a first time listener, as the track just so flows so nicely both lyrically and sonically. I love just how open the lyrics are too because everything just comes across as so authentic as which makes you give the song your undivided attention even more.

Although I am new to City Grey, I am enjoying checking them out because they kind of remind me of a fusion of the likes of Less Than Jake, The Starting Line and the early years of Simple Plan, with City Grey adding their own unique flavour to the mix as well.

One of my favorite lines from the song is ‘Sit a while with me, while you find the strength to stand’, because what might sound like a simple statement, to someone listening that line will be the most important thing they needed to hear. I always love music which is honest but is uplifting too because it helps takes you out of place of darkness. Ok City Grey may not be able to resolve all your problems but at the very least it will pave the way where you can at least start to breathe and feel less overwhelmed. That in itself is worthy of anyone's applause and respect.

Even if post-emo may not be your thing, I think that this song and City Grey in general has the potential to be enjoyed by anyone, which is a credit to the CG gents themselves for their ability to create a song which is so accessible and universal. I hope it is not too much of a wait till we hear even more new music from this band because after hearing I Don’t Want You To Leave I am without a doubt hungry for more.
