Cloud House Release Brand New EP, Still Here

Glasgow band Cloud House return with their brand new 7 track EP, Still Here. Released on the 1st November 2023, it could be said this could possibly be one the best bodies of work to date which reflects the brilliant way that the five piece band are continuing to thrive in confidence as part of their ongoing evolution as a band.

Being no stranger to the band’s music myself, I was excited to get my hands on the EP and explore all the wonder it had to offer and I will say this right now, this is an EP of Champions which does not disappoint whatsoever. Sometimes as music fans we can tend to fall into the habit of skipping tracks especially when sinking our teeth into a new EP or even an album, the downside of that is we run the risk of missing out all the goodness in between.

Well thankfully, with Still Here this is one experience where you will love every single track, because lets be real, its the only really way anyone can truly appreciate its pure and abundant energy, layered with wholesome songwriting and countless opportunities to crank up the volume and sing along.

With me so far? Good, now let’s take a little closer look as we unpack some of the strengths and special points of Still Here.

The EP begins with opening track Photographs, and is such an uplifting and positive song which helps bring some hopeful perspective to life, whilst providing a healthy outlet to get all those unspoken feelings in your life off your chest. One of my favourite lines on the track is ‘Gonna watch you grow, a boy becomes a man, she says fuck em if they try to hold you down’, and to me its not just words in a song, but is such precious wisdom which can provide some important encouragement to any listener regardless of whether this is your first encounter with Cloud House.

After a strong start we then move onto Don’t Wanna Talk and what makes this so beautiful to listen to is the well it is so beautifully written in such a honest way lyrically, giving a safe space to express those feelings of light and darkness, making it feel as though you are experiencing almost a sense a deja vu especially with lines such as ‘i know that I said, that I didn't recognise your face, but i’ve been here before, and know I said I didn't recognise this place but i’ve been here before, i’ve been here before’. When you couple that with the very catchy rhythm and an easy to grasp chorus, it won’t take you too long to find yourself warming to Cloud House.

If your feel like doing a little reminiscing or day dreaming as your mind shifts to all those memories of the past few months, then Waiting For Summer is guaranteed to put you in good spirits. If you listen very carefully its not just about thinking purely about the good times, but also letting go of any negativity too. As a listener i find that actually really refreshing and cleansing to hear especially when manifested through a song like this.

Before I leave you to go and check out the whole EP for yourself, I cannot wrap things up without commenting on the title track, which is probably one of my favorite tracks, because it is just such a radiant song that pulls together all the different qualities which make Cloud House such a special band - great song writing, bundles of energy, and just so easy to relate to. By the end you will be singing along to the chorus at the very top of your lungs with nothing but admiration and love.

As a whole, I have nothing but good things to say about this EP, and it is up their as one of the most enjoyable and favorite experiences I have had in my quest to discover new music. If like me you love good, honest music, which oozes with plenty of energy and passion, then this is the EP for you. Available on all major platforms, check out Still Here right now!
