DARKUS are honoured to be covering this year's Eurovision Song Contest which is being held in Turin based on the theme 'the sound of beauty'
Stay tuned to this page for regular updates as we look forward to sharing some of our highlights from this year's celebrations, including interviews with some of the contestants and just some of the many things which make Eurovision that extra bit special this year.
Eurovision is Go!!
Saturday 30th April 2022 sees the official run up to the competition start today. A hive of activity in Turin and at the Pala Olimpico, where all 40 participating countries are busy over the next week press putting the final touches to their live performances with a host of rehearsals, interviews, meet and greets, press conferences and parties!
We're here to bring you all the highlights in the run up to the Grand Final taking place on 14th May 2022.
So about the competition, just in case you forgot... each country chooses their performer or band with a maximum 6 people and a song, maximum 3 minutes, not released before. Each country can then decide if they send their number-1 star or the best new talent they could find.
The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen through 2 Semi-Finals and a Grand Final. Simple!
Day 1 of our Eurovision adventure, and we begin with a meet and greet with Moldova and their artist Zdob și Zdub. If you have been watching the competition over the years, we would like to highlight that this will be the third time that these fun loving punk-folk rockers have entered the the Eurovision song contest.
What we really admire about Zdob și Zdub is that they always bring a lot of positive energy, with their performances being a popular hit with countless fans around the world.
With Moldova always bringing that fun element, we asked lead singer Roman Iagupov what makes him smile about being part of Eurovision this year. To which he replied:
I am the young veteran because I have participated in Kiev, Dusseldorf and now Turin, for me this is not like a competition but more like a very nice carnival or festival of friendship and music, so that is what makes me happy to be here again.
Given that Roman and the rest of Zdob și Zdub are no stranger to the Eurovision Song Contest, we already have a good feeling that these talented and incredible guys will make their performance one to remember.
We love Zdob și Zdub and you can check out a little rendition of their song for Eurovision from 2005.
