Electronic music embodies community, heart, and spirit, so what do you do when your pal remixes your summer smash? Gracefully repay the favour. After Wuh Oh explored his ideas on beaut Together We Stand, Myd recently released his reworking of Softstyle. Paris’ Ed Banger Records is Myd’s home. Always wanting to evolve and nourish creativity, leader Pedro Winter noticed a fine pairing and fixed the two up; a lush friendship blossomed. Wuh Oh gushes, “Myd is such a sweetheart, and we’ve become buddies over the last few months.”

While their art practices are diverse: Myd, one of the most in-demand producers on Earth, dominates the euphoric, distorted house style, and Wuh Oh takes experimental pop to its flamboyant extremes, they are both masters in their field; both infectious, extensive personalities, yet possess a friendly, embracing quality; A magical match. You must witness Wuh Oh live where his interpretive dance twinned with custom made art outfits make for a spectacular sight, and Myd’s solo work continues to flourish and bloom with packed-full sets and expected LP out this year that has got followers hyped.

The new version of Softstyle is a jam and a late-night, dance floor filler. A broodier start presents itself as the song establishes, reminding me of the sound produced by DJ Rolando, aka The Aztec Mystic, on the exemplar track Jaguar; this can only be a quality thing. Classic piano house rings out until the Myd genius touch arrives: a slower melody that is pared back, and profoundly emotive, his hallmarks. Simplistic lyrics are given from Wuh Oh in a singing style rap, repeating, “One, two, three, Get me, 'cause you know that I flaunt it, Four, five, six, Get this, 'cause you know that you want it.” This song is about us exuding copious amounts of confidence and self-assurance. Don't let anyone dull your shine.
