Let your hair down with The Covasettes’ new single ‘Modern Rapunzel’

The Covasettes are back with their brand new single ‘Modern Rapunzel’.

They’ve been turning heads ever since they released their debut single ‘This Feeling’. Bursting onto the scene in 2017, the band formed of; Chris Buxton (Frontman), Matt Hewlett (Lead Guitarist), Jamie McIntyre (Bass) and Matt Buckley (Drums) are the four-piece behind the hits such as ‘Top Drawer’ and ‘Twit Too’.

Despite being in the infancy of their career the band has enjoyed heavy rotation on national radio, especially in 2020. Even though live shows were cancelled for the majority of the year, that didn’t prevent success for The Covasettes with their latest releases ‘Spin’ and ‘Be Mine’, which XS Manchester made them ‘Track of the Week’, whilst also performing live on BBC Radio 5Live with Scott Mills and Fearne Cotton. Back when live shows were a thing, they have excelled with multiple sold out shows around the UK as well as supporting the likes of The Sherlocks, The Hara and were even included for Glastonbury through the Emerging Talent Competition. Did I mention they even amassed 1.5 million streams on Spotify?!

‘Modern Rapunzel’ is a song that encapsulates the feeling of drifting away in a relationship - something we can all relate to - describing the sinking thoughts of persevering in a relationship and perhaps kidding yourself that things will get better. Let’s face it, we’ve all done that at some point.

Having previously built up a catalogue of indie-rock bangers, the upcoming release of ‘Modern Rapunzel’ leaves the question of whether it will just be the same as their previous releases or will it captivate fans into a new era? One thing I can say for sure is that it’s the latter. While this is a new sound for the band, it certainly does not disappoint, in the words of lead singer Chris Buxton, “To put it simply, it sounds huge and that has been amplified by the production style that Jamie (bassist) has adopted.”

Upon listening to the song, it instantly captivates you into a world where you are hooked onto it’s melody, empowered by the vocals and lyrics, with the driving force being the incredibly insane riffs and infectious beats - this is the song that will no doubt put a smile on your face and make you want to dance along even when you’re having a bad day.

‘Modern Rapunzel’ will no doubt knock their previous releases out of the park, bringing the band even more success. With an absolute banger like this, it is clear The Covasettes are back hungrier than ever!

Released on 5th March 2021 ‘Modern Rapunzel’ is now available on all major platforms.
