Mars FM Release Latest Album ‘The Sky Knelt to the Sea’

I absolutely love it when your listening to an album for the very first time, not knowing what to expect and finding yourself pleasantly surprised at your latest discovery. Well that is exactly how I felt when I was introduced to Mars FM and their latest album The Sky Knelt to the Sea.

The brain child of founding members Zack Bauer and Zoe Larsen, joined by Eli Wheeler on drums, this brand new album has so much variety to offer any music fan. Part of the charm to The Sky Knelt to the Sea is that it challenges your senses in the best way possible and keeps you on your toes as we are introduced to different strokes of brilliance with each song on the record all oozing with its own individuality.

So with 10 tracks on offer, let’s proceed and take a closer look. The album begins with Beneath The Blue where we are welcomed by Zoe and her inviting vocals which automatically makes mindful of almost artistic lyrics which just captain my attention and imagination from the very start. I particularly like the words ‘in the shadows of the sea because it just makes the song sound so poetic. In addition at just over 3 and a half minutes, Mars FM have also layered this song with a variety of influences. It is a mixture of different genres bundled together, refreshingly in the to a song.

From the opening track lets fast forward a little to some of the other songs which really stood out for me, beginning with Staring at the Moon where we see Zach making his own stella performance on vocals guided nicely by the beat of Eli’s drums. Listening to this track, I can’t help but notice a bit of a country folk vibe going on which really works well.

Since i am sharing some of my recommendations from the album, I need to make sure I mention Squib, which I am totally feeling those grunge’esque undertones. This song really shows Mars FM are a band who are not afraid to challenge themselves creativity because for a start you have flickers of grunge.

My other suggestion would be Turtle on the Run, because I find it such a fun song especially when it comes to the bands creativity. This song is just one of the significant few on the record where we hear both Zack and Zoe’s vocals, and I tell you what they really complement each other, while at same time putting you at ease.

Never in my lifetime would I have imagined that I would be singing along to lines such as ‘chasing after his turtle dream’, but at the same time it just feels so natural and right. This song represents one of those out of the box thinking I like to see in music, because it takes me to a point where each listen causes me to appreciate the song in a different way.

With the tracks I have mentioned I don't think we have even scratched the surface but what I can tell you is The Sky Knelt to the Sea is the kind of album which will capture your attention from the get go.

With the record being out since August I feel that the more people that bring it into their line of sight, the more and more it will continue to flourish and be able to be fully celebrated for the truly special body of work it represents. So don’t delay, start your Mars FM journey today!
