Odds - Staring At Blank Page

It might have been released back at the start of August, but there is no escaping the addictive and catchy vibes of Canadian band Odds and one of their latest single, Staring At A Blank Page.

Not only will this song have you swaying along as you turn up the volume and go about your day, but from a new listener perspective it gives us everything we could ever hope for in a song.

For example within the lyrics you have the wicked one liners like ‘There is a window to the soul, that’s how I am going to roll’, poetic but also a very good sentence to try and incorporate as a mantra for a life. When you dig deeper from a song writing perspective I love how with the light hearted poetic nature, lead vocalist Craig Northey is just saying whats on his mind, being natural but true, which for new listeners like me just makes it easy as a song to connect to.

There are other elements that make this a mighty fine song, and that is down to a rhythm and beat that has so much rhythm to it, it adds to the ambience and the experience to what is already a really cool track. I have to give extra kudos to for one of my favourite parts of the song, namely that guitar solo around the 3 minute mark, followed nicely by the heartbeat of any good band - the drums!

Staring At A Blank Page is not just any other song however, it forms part of the fruits of labour from the band’s latest album Crash The Time Machine, and if this single was so brilliant and fun I can only imagine that the record itself is ten times as epic. So if your looking for that new song to add to your daily playlist as you go through the motions of life then you can’t go wrong by adding a little bit of Odd’s Staring At A Blank Page to your life. Who knows this could be the gateway to discovering your new favourite Vancouver B.C band!
