It seems that no matter where you look in the news, you cannot ignore all the sadness and destruction going on in the world right now, be that the ongoing feud between Gaza and Israel, the war between Ukraine and Russia or even the atrocious behaviour of governments such as Uganda who are putting the lives of LGBTQ communities in great danger.
Recognising this overwhelming world we find ourselves in, American based band Phoenix Wise & The Resistance however released their powerful and beautiful version of I Have A Dream, reminding us as a global society to create a world of peace and love.
We all have a role to play in making a difference and what I love about this song is that Phoenix Wise & The Resistance don’t hold back in reminding us of that responsibility with the most heartfelt and honest of lyrics such as ‘...theres no hatred, weapons and guns, theres no fear, and its all about love’. Somewhere along the way love was pushed to the side, but as the band rightfully remind us of in this song, its time to bring this back to the forefront.
When I listen to I Have A Dream, I don’t just view it as a song, but I see it as a call to action, which begins with ourselves and our own attitudes in this world because the most powerful first step is when we are able to use our voices to challenge toxic behaviour, because those tiny acts of kindness are where the big changes start to happen, especially if we want to live in a unified world.
My advice for anyone listening to I Have A Dream is to really allow yourself to meditate on each and every word of this song, and most importantly spread the word because this track and band are taking us out of a place of darkness and into a place of positive thinking and light.
