The Bonzai Pipeline Return With Brand New EP

Having not released anything since 2016, Irish trio The Bonzai Pipeline are finally back on the scene as they bring gifts in the shape of their brand new self titled EP.

Consisting of three tracks this EP gives us all of a taste of this brand new chapter as the band step forward with a fresh sound and a new hunger for music, which I can only imagine is one hell of a special feeling.

Of Course it would be cruel of me to leave you all hanging, like a one sided chinese whisper, so its only right I give the EP a closer listen and share some of my thoughts on this wonderful body of work.

The EP begins with opening track Dilly Dally (a phrase I haven’t heard in ages), and as a song its pretty slick with plenty of rhythm to have you swaying along without even realising it because it has such a warm and inviting feel to it. Exactly what you want, because it just wants you to greet The Bonzai Pipeline with open arms. Everything just fits so nicely together, and you can see the chemistry of the trio flowing so nicely as vocals and lyrics unite with infectious beats. I feel like I am listening to a modern day version of the Foo Fighters or someone on a similar wave length, but with The Bonzai Pipeline adding their own awesome stamp to things!

The second track on the EP is Ode to Cheryl, which is just so stylish. The song starts off quite gently too which puts you at ease, but there are also these little pockets of energy from time to time that just draw you in even deeper.

For anyone who is huge on their lyrics, this one is probably a good one to really get a grasp how the band have have not held back when it comes to their songwriting, as it comes across so confidently and strong just like it should be. So many good lines in this track to choose from, but one of my favourite would be ‘lesson learned, I failed to burn, before the imitation gets too much’. I would totally would look to that phrase as philosophy for life if I had my way ha!

Leaving us with one final taster, the EP is brought to a close with Dig The River, and that guitar strum at the very beginning feels like that cheeky invite that encourages you to take a step closer and play, before leading you into the song itself and the brilliant vocals and intricate lyrics that you just hum away to especially lines like ‘...i feel this insane woah, but it is the right energy, right energy, yeah…’.

With this track being the final track on the EP, the ending is so important, and what I love about the 2 minute 50 stage we enter the build up point where the energy is just adding up second by second, like a battery ready to spark, because you just know what follows this EP is highly likely going to be something very special.

As comebacks go, The BonzaI Pipeline have returned in brilliant style, and can quite easily see them becoming a band that any music fan would only be too honoured to add to their list of favourite artists! Available on all major platforms, the brand new self titled EP by The Bonzai Pipeline is available now.
